Mee Memorial Hospital to Integrate Electronic Patient Signatures & Forms using Access Solutions

Feb. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Mee Memorial is committed to delivering exemplary patient care and service, and uses the latest technology to help provide this. Recently, the hospital decided to implement Meditech’s Scanning & Archiving to better manage patient charts electronically. To get patient forms and signatures into the Meditech repository without a manual process, Mee Memorial decided to partner with Access.

“We chose Access for our electronic patient signature and forms project because their solutions have been recognized in the user community to integrate well with Meditech,” said Rena Salamacha, Chief Information Officer at Mee Memorial. “Access will help us to better manage our forms in a central electronic chart.”

When an admissions associate registers a patient in Meditech, they will click a button to generate a customized forms packet. The Access system will apply barcodes and unique identifiers – such as patient account number – to each form and will map patient demographics from Meditech to speed forms completion.

Once the patient completes the remaining form fields, they will apply a secure electronic signature. The Access system will then send the signed forms into the patient’s EHR via Meditech SCA. During Meditech downtime, the Access solution will enable Mee Memorial to continue to register patients electronically.

“Access’s e-forms solution will be a tremendous help during Meditech downtime,” said Raquel Mojica, I.T. Operations Supervisor at Mee Memorial. “We’ll be able to use a fast electronic process rather than a time-consuming manual one, which may also reduce errors.”

Mee Memorial is almost finished with implementing the Access registration solution and Mojica is satisfied with how smoothly the process is running.

“Access’s project manager has done an exceptional job,” she said. “She has guided us every step of the way and we have been very impressed.”

In the future, Mee Memorial is considering using Access Evolution to create fast, paperless processes in the human resources (HR) department.
