Danica Patrick is the first female to win the pole at Daytona;Witness history with WikkidTickets.com

For the first time in the illustrious history of the Daytona 500, the person starting from the pole will not be a "gentleman" starting his engine. Danica Patrick became the first female to win the pole for any race on NASCAR's top circuit.

Feb. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Breaking new ground in racing is certainly nothing new for Danica Patrick.  She was the first woman to ever lead laps at the historic Indy 500 where she finished 3rd in 2009.  She is also the only woman to ever win an Indy race when she did so in 2008.

But it's probably a safe assessment to say that winning the pole at NASCAR's biggest event, the Daytona 500, is the greatest achievment of her racing career.

Danica was the eighth driver out at Sundays qualifying where she posted a speed of 196.434 mph.  None of the following 37 drivers could top her best mark.  In fact the only driver to come close to knocking her off the pole was 4 time cup champion Jeff Gordon.

This promises to be one of the most watched and most media covered Daytona 500 races in a long time, maybe ever.  In fact ticket marketplaces like http://wikkidtickets.com have noticed more sales and searches for Daytona 500 tickets since Danica made history at Daytona International Speedway.

Dancia said later that "she was brought up to be the fastest driver, not the fastest girl."   The rest of the field for the Daytona 500 will be decided in duel qualifying races on Thursday. But no matter the order of the rest of the field, they will all be lined up behind Danica's number 10 Chevrolet when the flag drops on Sunday.
