Life Insurance Brokerage Trusted Quote Releases “Harlem Shake” Video

Feb. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- ROSEVILLE, Calif.— Trusted Quote, a top national brokerage of insurance products for life, long term care, vision, dental, and more, has released a “Harlem Shake” video on the Trusted Quote YouTube channel:  http://youtu.be/jfxPyGPH3d0. Released on Friday, February 15, the video features company employees recreating the recent viral video sensation.

Ryan Pinney, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Trusted Quote, appears in the video as the manager shrugging at the camera, unsure what to make of the employee antics.  Of the video, Pinney says, “It was a fun opportunity to participate in a trend, as well as show people that life insurance doesn’t have to be boring.”

The “Harlem Shake” video trend began in early February 2103. As of February 11, approximately 12,000 “Harlem Shake” videos had been released, garnering an impressive total of 44 million views. The videos, including Trusted Quote’s, share a similar format: use of the song “Harlem Shake” by Baauer, and a jump-cut style that showcases crazy costumes and eye-catching dance moves by the participants.  

The viral video trend is especially popular among Gen X and Gen Y viewers.  Currently, more than half of Gen X and Gen Y households—at least 30 million people—are underinsured.  At the same time, a LIMRA study determined that most people over-estimate the cost of life insurance by three times its actual cost. Survey participants guessed the cost of a $250,000 20-year term life policy for a healthy 30-year-old to be $400 per year. The real cost is much more affordable, approximately $150 per year.
