High School Sweethearts Spend 66th Valentine's Day Together

Feb. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Residents of The Buckingham and high school sweethearts, Scott and Maye Indersoll, just spent their 66th Valentine’s Day together as a married couple. The Indersoll’s met and dated in high school; however their romance really began after World War II.

Maye was born in Houston, but her father’s work in oil refineries sent the family to New York and then to East Chicago, where Scott’s father also worked in an oil refinery. They met at the local high school when he was 18 and she was 17, but duty called and they were separated as he served as a fighter pilot during World War II and she worked as an airline stewardess. Their paths crossed again after the war and this time the relationship was more serious and they got married.

After the war, Scott got a job with Shell Oil Company and worked for them for 40 years while Maye held down the fort at home. Through his job, they were able move frequently and travel all over the world. One of the most memorable of trips was being in Israel and celebrating Christmas Eve in Jerusalem at a midnight mass. The recent years of their marriage have been filled with lots of cruises.

“Marriage is a wonderful institution,” said Indersoll. “It takes patience, compromise and love. Maye is patient, has a good sense of humor and has raised a wonderful son for us. We are blessed.”

Now living in luxury at The Buckingham, Scott and Maye continue to enjoy retirement and keeping up with their son, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
