Feb. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Today’s Caregiver magazine, http://www.caregiver.com, since 1995, the nation’s leading support, training and educational organization for family and professional caregivers, announced the release of its newest book, Caregiving Ties That Bind…Today’s Caregiver Magazine Celebrity Interviews, answering the question: What do nearly 50 national and international celebrities have in common? Caregiving.

As Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Today’s Caregiver magazine, Gary Barg has an exclusive vantage point, having conducted a unique series of celebrity caregiver interviews since 1995. The book, Caregiving Ties That Bind, includes interviews that for the very first time have posed personal caregiving questions to a wide range of world-renowned celebrities as well as the stories behind many of the interviews.  According to Barg, “We titled the book Caregiving Ties That Bind because we learned very early on that family caregiving is truly what binds us all together, no matter if you are working on a farm in Iowa, in a shop in Cleveland or are a world famous celebrity.  The stories in the book, as well as the stories of the thousands of caregivers we have met over the years, convince me that although every caregiving situation is different, the love, concern and commitment to our loved ones’ care are what we all share as members of the club of family caregivers.”

Today’s Caregiver magazine http://www.caregiver.com was launched in 1995 after Barg returned home for a few weeks to South Florida from Atlanta to visit his mother who was caring for both grandparents. “Once I saw what she was going through as a family caregiver, I had to stay and help.”  The magazine also has a companion Web community, www.caregiver.com, and has hosted 123 Fearless Caregiver Conferences across the nation since 1998.

The Caregiving Ties That Bind book is segmented into seven chapters: Caregiver Advocates, Caring for Parents, Caring for Partners, Caring for Each Other, Caring for Kids, Caring for Yourself, and In Memoriam. “I have always been so very grateful and impressed by the way all of these celebrities have  opened their lives to our readers in these interviews,” states Barg. “We have been able to peek behind the curtain and share their experiences as sons, daughters, parents and concerned advocates. The same heartfelt openness takes place every time we are joined by a celebrity caregiver at the Fearless Caregiver Conferences. The celebrities who have joined us so far include Debbie Reynolds, Clay Aiken, Patricia Richardson, Leeza Gibbons, Henry Winkler, Clay Walker, and Robert Urich.”

The book, Caregiving Ties That Bind, is groundbreaking as the first to include such interviews highlighting the personal caregiving lives of these celebrities of stage, screen and even politics.  Barg says, “I not only learned from conducting the interviews about the real lives of these famous people, but also how much they care about their fellow caregivers.” As well as their own never before shared personal stories, each of the celebrity interviews offers advice, wisdom and tremendous support that will help all caregivers who read the book—from Dana Reeves teaching how to get some much needed time away for ourselves to Linda Dano sharing the importance of caring for our loved ones’ pets and Barry Manilow talking about the importance of self-care.

What are the caregiving ties that bind us all together, no matter what situation we find ourselves in as family caregivers?  The answer is simple.  It is our love of family.
