Schubros Brewery Launches the Passport Series with ‘Alcosta’, named for the Brewery's Address

Schubros Brewery will introduce its Passport Series this Friday, February 15th. Part of San Francisco Beerweek, celebrations begin with the Launch Party for ‘Alcosta’, a Chocolate Orange Stout bearing the brewery’s street name.

Feb. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- San Ramon, California -- Schubros Brewery introduced its beer to a very appreciative San Ramon and the San Francisco East Bay this past Fathers Day. In mid-January they opened their taproom on Northern Alcosta Boulevard to a packed house.

On Friday, February 15th, they take the relationship to a new level with their launch of Alcosta Chocolate Orange Imperial Stout, named for the street upon which their Brewery, Taproom, and offices are located. Part of San Francisco Beerweek, the Passport Series' inaugural brew will be unveiled at 7PM at their Alcosta Launch Party located at 12893 Alcosta Blvd, Ste. N, San Ramon, California. “It’s our San Ramon brew,” noted Ian Schuster, Schubros' President. “And it’s the perfect way to kick off our Passport Series, a world tour of beer styles. After all, even the greatest journeys start from home.”

“It was a labor of love,” added Mike Johannsen, Schubros’ Brewmaster. “I went through countless renditions of the recipe, playing with just the right mix of malts, chocolates, orange zest and even fresh orange juice. Alcosta is about subtlety of flavors -- neither the chocolate nor the range dominate. The alcohol content is 9.25%, but even that isn’t overwhelming. Everything’s in balance.”

San Ramon meanwhile is waiting. Ever since Schubros opened up it’s taproom in mid-January they have enlisted the help of several dozen customers to serve as focus group participants.“We’ve gotten great, quality feedback since day one, and with those learnings incorporated, we’re excited to bring Alcosta to market,” said Schuster.

“The only problem,” points out Mike Hall, Chief Sales Officer, “is supply”. “We’re already getting hit heavily with requests, but will only brew 34 kegs worth. So it’s gone quickly on draught. In late February we’ll release 50 cases of 22oz bottles. After that, no more.”
