EquiChord STAR Award 2013
Feb. 12, 2013
-- The First EquiChord Star Award Trophy for Excellence in Freestyle Performance
was presented to Rebecca Langwost-Barlow during a weekend freestyle clinic and demonstration held at Windcrest Farm in Clarksburg, Maryland.
2012 was a stellar year for Langwost-Barlow. Winning the CBLM Intermediate I MFS Championship, CBLM First Level MFS Championship, Region 1 Freestyle Intermediate Championship, Region 1 Freestyle 1st Level Championship - all within a nine month period. “Frank and CeCe from EquiChord came out and did the music, and it’s brilliant...”
said Langwost-Barlow. Both she and EquiChord have had a nine year relationship that started when Langwost-Barlow encouraged them to develop their freestyle business in earnest. “We came to Becky because we respected her as a Dressage professional, and knew that she was an honest, to the point, no nonsense person,” said Frank Maddlone. “If she believed we were good and that this endeavor would be viable, she’d tell us. But, we were also prepared for her to tell us to forget it. In so many words, she told us that we would be crazy if we didn’t do it.”
EquiChord now has hundreds of freestyles under their belt at all levels within the discipline, both nationally and internationally, and is looking forward to their most inspirational year to date. “We have a great group of committed riders who are all about creating excellence, not just getting by with the minimum score. For the United States to be internationally competitive in Dressage, we need to raise the bar beyond the mediocre. That means providing the best guidance and education for all levels and ages.”
Encouraged by FEI trainer, competitor and judge, DeDe Bierbrauer, EquiChord established an ongoing series of seminars and workshops for trainers, judges and riders alike. EquiChord is offering rich media educational opportunities at Bierbrauer’s Windcrest Farm as well as scheduling clinics and seminars at other facilities around the country. “Although I have been competing, training, and judging through FEI for over thirty years,” said Bierbrauer,”
I am always looking for the right set of circumstances to ensure that my students and my sport may advance to their fullest potential. I see the need for more instruction and promotion of the freestyle as a priority, and truly hope that everyone will take the time to attend these sessions. EquiChord’s willingness to share their passion for the creative art that is the freestyle is an opportunity that is not to be missed.”
