What is Personal Development - personal development is a process of individual self-development and the development of others.  At the level of the individual, personal development includes goals, plans or actions oriented towards one or more of the following aims: improving self-awareness, improving self-knowledge, building or renewing identity, developing strengths or talents, improving wealth, spiritual development, identifying or improving potential, enhancing lifestyle or the quality of life, improving health and improving social abilities.

Mark Twain said, "The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them."

Each month we will be reading a select book as a Team...we will gather on the 3rd Saturday of each Month ((clubdoterra.com - under "Creating Unity" tab))

Here we will share thoughts, ideas, lessons learned from the book...we highly recommend you purchase your book ((in your local bookstore, here, kindle))

Please focus on the select book for the entire month!  If it's an easy read (like As a Man Thinketh) read it 5, 10, 50 or as many times as you need!

Jim Rohn said about personal development, "To attract attractive people, you must be attractive.  To attract powerful people, you must be powerful.  To attract committed people, you must be committed.  Instead of going to work on them, you go to work on yourself.  If you become, you can attract."

By becoming an attractive person you will attract into your life success, whether that's financial, spiritual, mental, physical success.  All of it is based on who you are as a person and what you are becoming!

What I've learned from these books:

January - As a Man Thinketh by James Allen - Self control of your mind can lead to great things.  Understanding we are all men, yet we all have the ability to accomplish so much!

February - Making the First Circle Work by Randy Gage - I've learned the importance of leading by example.  Not only when it deals with our Team in Network Marketing but it also is very important to understand as home as a mother or father!  Your energy, excitement will show through if you are all in with your company, family, personal development etc...

March - Learning the Business by Michael Clouse - One of the simplest books around.  It taught me to focus on what is important, learn the basics and stick to those basics yearly, monthly, weekly, daily, hourly.

April - The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson - Doing the small and simple things compounded daily will net you huge results.  Never underestimate the power of doing one step at a time.  All greatness begins with the first step and continues to develop with every step after.

May - The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell - this book opened my eyes to the importance of leading and guiding through personal development not only of myself but for my team and friends as well.  Understanding my strengths and weaknesses and partnering with my team and friends with their strengths we can become unstoppable together!

June - Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill - one of the first books which opened my eyes to the need of personal development.  And the ability to make things happen whatever those dreams, goals are in your life.  Even if it's a big a deal as your son being born without the ability to hear.  But having faith and determination to provide the best in any situation and an opportunity is always found!

July - Building your Network Marketing Business by Jim Rohn - understand business is business.  Development, protect yourself against distractions and protect your team as well so that everyone can stay focused on what's important, your goals and dreams and why you are doing what you do!

Brilliant Compensation by Tim Sales - the CD/DVD that made everything logical when it came to explaining the MLM / Network Marketing Industry to my friends and family.  Understanding this is a real business and you can be highly compensated for it gave me excitement to keep learning and growing!

August - Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins - Tony Robbins has a voice that will excite you and drive you back into the path of personal development.  Understand he has been there before.  Made millions and woke himself up from the depths of sleeping on couches, to making multi-millions again!  Definite roll model.

September - The Seasons of Life by Jim Rohn - this is my favorite book of all times.  Understanding the seasons of life (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) and knowing that all things are related and can be related to your personal problems as well.  Know that opportunities arise, the chance to reap what you sow always happens and afterwards knowing everyone goes through winters, spiritually, financially, mentally, physically but it's those individuals who know how to deal through the winters and look for Spring are the ones who jump at the opportunities in life to start the seasonal cycle all over again!

October - The Fearless Mind by Craig Manning - as I grew up I wish I would have had this book through my years swimming competitively.  The mind is truly what holds us back or releases us for greatness.  The ability to control ones own thoughts will create a fearless mind, one that will allow us to be anyone or do anything to complete our tasks and objectives at hand!

November - Eat That Frog! by Brian Tracy - If you struggle with planning and the ability to complete tasks understand Brian Tracy knows exactly what he is talking about!  Do those little and important things one step at a time will net you large results!

December - The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D Wattles - The man who started it all.  Who instead of simply going along for the ride, decided there was much more to simply existence and one shouldn't be ok with mediocrity but should be developing one self for greatness, all through the use of your mind!

A couple other great reads we have in the club are:

Leadership and Self-Deception - read this and it will blow your mind!

How to Win Friends and Influence People - honestly I was born with natural talent in this field and have worked customer service my entire life.  I feel blessed to know how important of a gift it truly is.

Leading an Inspired Life - the meaning of Personal Development itself.  Why even work at yourself but to lead an inspired life one where you are in control of where you are headed!

The 5 Lessons a Millionaire Taught Me - I've never been a fan of Richard Paul Evans, however, after reading this book I understand why he is so successful.  Think outside the box if you aren't like everyone else.  I learned I cannot save money in a savings account.  So what did he tell me to do, save Silver/Gold Coins (much harder to spend and much easier to save) I was able to save up a down payment on a house much easier than if I would have had to do like my best friend and simply put money away in a bank account!

The Millionaire Next Door - understanding who a millionaire is will change your mental picture of what you are aiming for.  They aren't always the one driving a Mercedes or BMW down the highway.  They are usually the ones who live next door and have a pretty comfortable lifestyle without much stress because they have taken the time to invest in their future!

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind - educated me on the importance of finding where I came from (meaning how I was taught by example from my parents, grand parents and others) and how that is effecting my success in the present!

Personal Development has changed my life!  It has forever changed my kids lifestyle as they will be taught to always improve one-self daily.
