-- As the count stands today, there will be eight contestants for the "Miss" crown and three contestants for the "Teen" crown. This competition is a local-level affiliate of the Miss America Organization. The winners of this pageant will go on to compete for the Miss Connecticut and Miss Connecticut's Outstanding Teen titles in June. The winners from the state level will go on to compete next January in the Miss America Scholarship Pageant.
These young women will have to compete in evening gown, swimsuit (for Teens, it is a fitness routine in workout clothes), interview (both in front of the judges' panel and an on-stage impromptu question) and talent categories. Throughout all stages of the competition they must demonstrate poise and self-confidence and an in-depth understanding of their personal platforms, to which they have devoted many hours of volunteer service. In addition to being named titleholders, these young women will be awarded over $1,500.00 in scholarships for continuing their education.
In addition to entertainment from last years titleholders, the audience will delight in a performance by the Beyond Dance team and a musical interlude during intermission.
The audience may also participate in a "People's Choice Award" and a special "photo op" in the lobby.
Tickets are $15.00, $10.00 for 55 & over, and 10 & under. For more info, go to:
