Environmental and economic savings by using an app!

Most serious companies around the world make an effort in reducing waste and environmental impact. At the same time they use tons of paper when they require their employees to report incidents related to health, safety, environment and quality.

Feb. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- A Norwegian app will change that.

The company Mellora (www.mellora.no) has developed the app "HSEQ". Since its release, it has grown to be a very popular app for reporting non-conformance, accidents, near-misses and improvement proposals related to environment, health safety and quality (HSEQ).

The app is published in two versions; one limited version with ads and one which costs USD .99. However, what seems to be the trend are customized versions for companies which really want to use this opportunity to create a completely paperless HSEQ reporting-environment within their organisation. Large organizations like TV 2 Norway, Marine Harvest and the Svitzer Salvage in The Netherlands have already got their own version of the app.

- A company needs to get involvement from all their employees when trying to find good environmental and risk reducing solutions, Trond Hansen, CEO in Mellora says. Regular cellphones will most likely be completely replaced with smartphones in the years to come, and the HSEQ-reporting will follow the trend, he believes.

Being available for both iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad) and Android, the app reaches out to employees in every organisation, world wide. With 6 different languages built into the app, a large amount of the world's managers and their employees can use the app to reduce risks and improve their businesses.

Using an app instead of the traditional pieces of paper also has a positive impact on the environment. Instead of using a form printed on paper one time and then filing it or throwing it away, the HSEQ-app's six different, pre-defined forms can be used again and again. Having the possibility to take and include pictures and send the report to both default e-mail addresses or e.g. to a Dropbox-account, the use of paper is completely unnecessary.

- It is pointless that large companies add the text “Please consider the environment before printing” in their e-mails, and at the same use tons of paper and money to print out their HSEQ-forms, Hansen says and smiles.
