Behavior Analysis Center for Autism Offers State-of-the-Art Programming in Intensive Therapy Clinics

Feb. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- The Behavior Analysis Center for Autism (BACA) is now offering its state-of-the-art programming in a variety of intensive therapy clinic models.

The clinics are designed to offer a menu of BACA’s services within a customizable program to cater to an individual client’s family or therapy team. Each clinic model is overseen by nationally- and internationally-renowned experts in behavior analysis.

“A program so unique as what we offer at BACA is difficult to replicate, but now families and therapy teams can come to our clinics and reap the benefits of BACA’s expertise and services,” said BACA Administrative Director Devon Sundberg. “We can coordinate your visit with our clinical team and upper-level staff to offer specialized training to suit individual needs and goals.”

BACA has established four different therapy models: two-week, one-month, two-month and four-month clinics. All models begin with a full Verbal Behavior Milestones and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) assessment, and there are additional services available for specialization.

“Parent involvement is required, and training will be integrated into the schedule,” said BACA-Z Clinical Director Sheila Habarad. “The parent or therapy team will have access to Advanced Training Solutions (ATS) online training program. Six-month goals will also be written with procedure and data sheets. These goals will be modeled, and the parent and/or therapist will receive coaching and feedback on their implementation of the goals.”

An example of a therapy clinic model includes 40 hours per week of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy coaching with a BACA-trained therapist. Consultations with speech therapists and Ph.D.s are also built into each model. The amount of time spent with consultants depends on the clinic model timeframe.

“We offer a variety of clinic models so we can customize our services and consultations based on the availability of each family and client,” Sundberg said. “These clinics are now available year-round, so we hope to be able to help more families receive the treatment they need. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for every client by ensuring intensive training is both received and applied.”

Additional clinic services include: occupational therapy; video analysis; behavior management; direct instruction; precision teaching; and vocational skills.

BACA provides a continuum of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children and young adults with autism in four different locations, including new centers in Zionsville and Elkhart. Treatment is based on current research findings from the most experienced scholars in the field of behavior analysis in the areas of: teaching language, social, self-help, academic and employment skills.
