Color In Motion 5K Racing into Lebanon, Ky.

Feb. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- The race is on, and it’s full of vibrant colors, lots of laughter and fast feet. Lebanon, Kentucky will play host to the exciting Color in Motion 5K race on Sat., May 11, 2013, at Graham Memorial Park and downtown Lebanon. Watch a race video here: http://www.colorinmotion5k.com.

According to Lebanon’s Mayor Gary Crenshaw, Lebanon is the perfect spot for this type of event.

“Lebanon and Marion County are blessed to have an abundance of varying terrain for outdoor adventure activities,” said Crenshaw. “These activities translate into dollars for local businesses. We want people to visit, experience, and enjoy what Lebanon and Marion County has to offer.”

For those runners familiar with the Pokey Pig race the Chamber of Commerce puts on in conjunction with Farmer’s National Bank during the annual Marion County Country Ham Days festival, this course will be identical, though the starting/finish lines will be different.
   
Color in Motion 5k is a unique race in that runners typically start the race with a clean white t-shirt and end the race painted from head to toe with fairy dust, pixie powder, rainbow drops and star sprinkles, a.k.a. lots and lots of vibrant colors.

According to event coordinators, runners end up “looking like a bag of Skittles exploded on them” by the end of the race. The harmless, biodegradable color powder is easy to wash off, but so much fun to earn. And if racers want to keep their colorful t-shirt as a memento, there are directions on ColorInMotion5k.com that tell how it can be done.

The good thing about this 5k is that no skill is required. Walkers, runners, joggers, crawlers, skippers and dancers are all welcome to take on the course. This race isn’t about speed. It’s all about fun.

When the race ends, a huge After Party takes place at the finish where participants will be bombarded with even more color. What’s more, spectators get to join in on this colorful party.

Race organizers will be providing a discount ticket early in the selling process, so stay tuned to both the Color in Motion 5k and the Lebanon Facebook page for more info, as well as for future discount codes in case you miss the initial one.

For those who want to enjoy the action without racing, about 100 volunteers are needed to make this race a success. Anyone interested in volunteering should sign up on ColorInMotion5k.com. Volunteers will be needed for packet stuffing on Thursday night, Packet Pick-Up on Friday morning and night, and for Race Day activities on Saturday morning and afternoon.

According to Marion County Judge Executive John G. Mattingly, bringing sports and adventure tourism to the area is a great way to show that the people of this community are friendly and helpful. Mattingly describes Marion Countians as “helpful ambassadors” who “serve others and our community well.”

The Lebanon Tourist & Convention Commission (http://www.VisitLebanonKy.com) has been trying to recruit sporting and recreational tourism events for the past few months, and Color in Motion was at the top of the commission’s list.

Executive Director Nicky Reynolds explained that one of the reasons Color in Motion 5k chose Lebanon is because she pitched them a community-friendly, involved destination that would work hard to help them produce a great event.
