Follow on Google News | Big Brothers Big Sisters Names “Bigs of the Year”Wichita Falls and Waco residents recognized as the “Best of the Best” in 2012 by Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star. Volunteers are honored for their life-changing work with area children.
“The relationship Jennifer and Byron have with their ‘Littles’ is the epitome of what we hope to achieve for all of our matches,” says Tammy Richards, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters. “Their commitment to our program is truly inspiring. We are honored to have them on our team.” Jennifer Briley was selected Big Sister of the Year for Wichita Falls because of her dedication to her match and the agency. She has been a Big Sister for two years. Byron Johnson was selected Big Brother of the Year for Waco because of the positive impact he has had on his Little Brother’s sense of the future. He has also been an active Big Brothers Big Sisters recruiter on the Baylor University campus. Each year, regional winners from across the 60-county service areas are automatically nominated for Lone Star awards. Winners of that selection process move on to statewide Big Brothers Big Sisters award recognition. Texas winners will be eligible for national awards selected by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
