Jan. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A Ukrainian Physics Professor, Dr. Anatoliy Glushchenko, and a Community Business Leader, Dave Csintyan, are the two co-founders of the newly formed foundation See The Change USA based in Colorado Springs, CO.  They are passionate about education and economic vitality and they say age appropriate physics taught to middle school students is the answer to rapidly improve children’s education and increase the level of student achievements in Science and Mathematics to out-perform global competition.  They also say this will create the strongest pipeline for American Science and Engineering qualified professionals to sustain the level of innovation the industries demand today and in the future.

40% of students are dropping out of science and engineering majors within the first 1 -2 years of study and The National Center for Education Statistics states U.S. Students are scoring below 25 countries in mathematics and scoring below 17 countries in science.  There is a significant gap in focus on K-12 fundamental science education and introducing Physics in high-school is just too late, according to Dr. Anatoliy Glushchenko.  He says sixth grade is the perfect time to introduce students to age appropriate physics curriculum.

In addition to teaching in the United States, Dr. Glushchenko taught in Europe and Asia and says that an early age approach is the key.  Physics and Computer Programming should be taught as separate subjects, Physics in 6, 7 and 8th grade, Computer Programming taught in 7 & 8 and Chemistry in 8. This is what other countries have taught us, the wheel isn’t being reinvented; best practices are being taken from around the globe.   Physics is the most fundamental science discipline and Computer Programming is a discipline that facilitates problem solving.  Physics is how the world works; it’s how the universe works.  We see it in everyday life. Studying Physics on a comprehensive level turns excitement into real knowledge.  Physics will help in whatever field the student chooses.

As CEO of See The Change USA and a community leader Dave spent the last ten years at the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce where he performed in a variety of leadership capacities culminating in his selection as President and CEO for his final five years in the organization. He knows the U.S. Department of Labor states that by 2018, the U.S. will have 1.2 million job openings in science, technology, engineering and math related fields.  He states with conviction this initiative is an economic driver for our nation and the most direct path to fulfill the needs of these industries.

See The Change USA was founded in August 2012 and is a national educational and charitable non-profit organization committed to student advancement in Science and Engineering.  This is accomplished through introducing physics, chemistry and computer programming in middle schools, paralleling what is already in existence internationally.  See The Change USA has applied to the IRS for tax exempt status as a 501 (C) 3 organization.
