On October 29, Hurricane Sandy battered New Jersey’s shoreline; flooded Hoboken along with other towns. What started off being known as “Frankenstorm” The Marcucci girls were born and raised in New Jersey with their family who has lived here for generations. They have fond memories of their childhood summers being spent with their friends and family at the Jersey Shore, “I cannot remember a summer that was not spent on Jersey beaches,” Madison explains as she reminisced. On April 20th, 2013, Madison Marcucci, a 25-year-old violinist who married her high school sweetheart at PIMF last year, will be performing solo: Tchaikovsky, Mozart, and Bach; together, both Madison and her sister, Michal Marcucci, an 18-year-old violinist who has been playing since the age of 5 and studies with Davyd Booth from the Philadelphia Orchestra, will be performing Vivaldi’s Winter. “We wanted to give back to the community that helped us grow up,” the Marcucci sister’s both agree that, “Music is a beautiful way to bring beauty to those who have been through disaster. PIMF began as a 40-student program founded in the home CEO Sandra Marcucci. It has grown in 15 years to include three camp programs in two states and two countries, with more than 300 young musicians attending programs over the course of 2012 alone. This year marked the festival program’s largest attendance count ever.
