Strong results for Pete Olson in AFR Official Testing

Jan. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Day Two of Asia Formula Renault Official Testing took place today under favorable conditions at Zhuhai International Circuit, with 20C temperature and sunny skies.

With the circuit open from 9am-12:30 and 2pm to 5pm for Official Practice, AFR drivers put in serious mileage in preparation for the 2013 season, which starts in just 7 weeks. At the top of the mileage chart was Bell Helmets/Drift Innovation/ChildFund International driver Pete Olson who ironmanned with almost 140 laps of testing today, in his first practice day in PS Racing after making the move from Champ Motorsport.

After working on setup throughout the day Olson set a best time of 1:38.3 on old tires, bettering his quickest time of last season and putting Olson fourth fastest amongst AFR competitors testing for the day, the faster AFR drivers setting their best times on new slicks.

“What was most important to me wasn’t as much the solid laptimes but the improvements we made throughout the day in terms of setup” said Olson. “Working with Pekka in PS Racing is amazing – every suggesting he made in terms of setup made the car not only more driveable but faster overall. On the coaching side, he was showing me whole new techniques – but I’d expect as much from studying under a three-time Formula Renault champion. This was only our first day of testing and it gives me great confidence for the season. I think today really showed that I’ve made the right move and that I’ll really be able to show something special this season.”

The 2013 Asia Formula Renault opening weekend is just 7 weeks away, March 16-17 at Zhuhai International Circuit during the famous Pan Delta Race Festival. The Pan Delta weekends typically feature attendance of over 20,000, with full television coverage of Formula Renault, touring car, and superbike events.
