Jan. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- CHANDLER (AZ)—Brighton Publishing LLC is pleased to announce the signing of author Morton E. Tavel, M.D., for his second book “Hell in the Heavens. Author Morton E. Tavel unveils a memoir filled with aerial engagements, camaraderie, and a tireless search for freedom held by those on the front lines of WWII. “Hell in the Heavens” is scheduled for eBook release in mid-2013 and will be available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other leading retailers nationwide. The print version is currently slated for release in late-2013 and will be available through Ingram, the world’s largest book distributor.
It was 1937 and the world was changing rapidly. The era of big bands and ballrooms was in full swing, but for a budding David Tavel, he would soon be ushered from the dance floor into the pilot seat of a B-24 bomber.

1941 would soon arrive, and with it came the galvanizing attack on Pearl Harbor that would catalyze a nation and ultimately propel the “Greatest Generation” into the Second World War.

Hell in the Heavens is a highly descriptive recounting of Colonel David E. Tavel’s distinguished flying career as a student, as an instructor, and finally…as a B-24 combat pilot.

Follow along with Tavel and his crew as they operate their bomber against enemy targets over the war-ravaged European territories. From the pen of one of America’s finest aerial warriors, relive the missions and hazards Tavel and his entire crew constantly encountered and…overcame. Witness the passion and intensity as they fly through enemy territory despite the constant fears of flak and enemy fighters.

Every crew member had a job to do, but the pilot’s job was to complete the mission and bring his crew back home—alive, and Tavel’s considerable flying skills would accomplish this task time and time again.

“Author Morton E. Tavel delivers an impressive account of one of our nation’s finest heroes and a generation that forever etched a new respect and understanding of freedom and its highest cost,” said Kathie McGuire, director of Brighton Publishing LLC. “Hell in the Heavens is, in many ways, a memorial to those who served and a brilliant insight for anyone who has ever wondered about these remarkable men and their amazing missions.”
Dr. Morton E. Tavel is a lifelong native of Indianapolis, having received both college and medical degrees at Indiana University. Dr. Tavel is a physician specialist in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases and is actively engaged in medical research authoring over one hundred research publications, editorials, and national medical journals. He continues to reside in the Indianapolis area with his caring and supportive wife, Betty.
