San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh commentary makes waves

'Side of 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh we don't see everyday' takes a different take on the upcoming Super Bowl matchup

Jan. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- BATON ROUGE, La. – With the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens preparing to head to New Orleans next week to prepare for Super Bowl XLVII, the storyline of the first time two brothers -- Harbaugh's Jim and John -- playing in the year’s biggest game will slowly dissipate. Now, the focus will shift to the game.

The mainstream media has asked the same questions, but many of them have failed to discuss the true reason for the men's on-field success – God.

Inside The Pew book editor Tonya Andris bucked with the normal HarBowl plot this week and wrote a column, titled “Side of 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh We Don’t See Everyday (http://insidethepew.net/side-of-49ers-coach-jim-harbaugh-we-dont-see-everyday/),” on Jim Harbaugh’s past revelations of his connection with his Creator.

“I partially paid attention to Jim when he played in the NFL, but back then I knew he was a believer,” she said. “Sometimes we in the media can focus on the negative because it brings viewers. Now, that I have noticed his behavior over the past two years, I just wanted to re-connect some pieces and show a different side of Harbaugh."

In her column, she references a Bleacher Report contribution from Carla Ingle. In Ingle’s piece, she references a time when the former Indianapolis Colts quarterback would begin each press conference with a praise to his Lord Jesus Christ.

Ingle wrote, “When he first started playing for the Colts it would warm my heart when a reporter would interview him and the first thing he would say was ‘I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (http://insidethepew.net/side-of-49ers-coach-jim-harbaugh-...) for making all this possible.’ Then he would continue (http://insidethepew.net/side-of-49ers-coach-jim-harbaugh-we-dont-see-everyday/) on with the interview and address whatever question that had been posed to him.”

As seasons’ passed and the wins came less, Ingle said she noticed a different demeanor to the then-Indianapolis Colts signal caller.

Andris fast forwards to 2013, where Harbaugh isn’t as open about his religious beliefs, but he still exhibits them. She points out the annual mission trip Harbaugh takes to Peru. He said of the mission trip, “The doors that God will open for you by the people you meet or by the circumstances you’re in (allow) your character to be shaped and your spirit to grow. Those kinds of doors are opened for (me) here.”

“Harbaugh is human like the rest of us, especially those who are silent acknowledgers of Jesus Christ,” Andris said. “Sometimes we rely on Him more when thing are going good. We are all guilty, and it is OK.

“We don’t have to be like the Tim Tebows of the world who shout their love from mountain tops. He knows our heart. He knows we love Him."
