The 2014 Mazda6 is the first vehicle to incorporate the automaker’s SkyActiv technology throughout the vehicle, meaning that the powertrain, chassis, and other parts of the vehicle are all designed with a variety of efficiency improvements. It starts with the engine, which is a 184-hp 2.5L four-cylinder model; it will come paired with wither a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, with the latter boasting a manual shift mode. While EPA estimates on the fuel economy of the new Mazda6 haven’t yet been released, Mazda says that it can achieve 38 mpg highway.

Efficiency is further aided by the i-Eloop — or, “intelligent energy loop” — system, which can store energy during deceleration, using that energy to power air conditioning and other accessories.

All of the technology in the 2014 Mazda6 comes in a beautiful package, too. The vehicle takes advantage of Mazda’s new Kodo design language, which results in the car boasting new, sleek curves and angles, in addition to a number of aerodynamic optimizations.
