New Legs on Life - Rescue needs your help to walk, and have a second chance at life

Jan. 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Local Veterinarian, Dr Kristy Lund from Lund Animal Hospital of Boca Raton, loves any challenge and isn’t afraid to meet it face, or paw, on.    Dr Lund’s recent challenge was a Chihuahua at Animal Care and Control who has deformed front legs, only able to walk on the two hind.  Dr Lund has a special place in her heart for challenged pets; in fact, she has two wheel-chair dogs of her own!  When Dr Lund heard of the dog’s story, she told the Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue that she would foster her.  The foster went into immediate action and scooped up the Chihuahua, who has since been re-named “Angelfish”.  When Dr Lund met this sweet girl, she began her initial consult and overview on “Angelfish”, and wasn’t satisfied with the diagnosis given about her legs.  The legs that were said to be deformed were in fact a neglect case of two badly broken legs that had never properly taken care, and in turn healed poorly.  Dr Lund says, “In essence, this poor dog hasn’t had use of her legs in who knows how long, but we can right her legs so she can walk again!!”  We need the public’s help so that “Angelfish” can walk!  The corrective surgery is $3,500.  

The Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue makes it their goal to save pet lives with the help of volunteers who not only do grant writing, fostering, medical treatments, fundraising, baths and bottle feedings but also open their doors which allows the group to function as one of the largest foster based no-kill rescue groups in Palm Beach County.
