NOtYours! Launches Campaign to End Child Sex Trafficking with Press Conference featuring Jasmine Guy

Jan. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- There is a child sex trade epidemic in America. Recently the FBI named Atlanta as one of 14 cities in the nation with the highest incidents of children used in prostitution. Each month, approximately two hundred to five hundred girls are commercially sexually exploited throughout Georgia and research has indicated that the average age of entry is between 12 and 14 years old.  

In Georgia, more adolescent young girls are victimized by prostitution each month than there are people killed in car accidents each year. NOtYours! (http://www.iamnotyours.com/), an organization committed to bringing national awareness with an emphasis in Georgia and providing resources for grassroots organizations dedicated to rescuing and assisting victims of child-sex trafficking will officially launch its "I Am NOt Yours!" campaign on January 31st, 2013 introducing Actor/Dancer/Director Jasmine Guy as their national spokeswoman.

Exploited girls do not self-identify as victims, and deny victimization due to fear of the physical and psychological abuse inflicted by the trafficker/pimp, as well as trauma bonds developed through the victimization process. "Our mission is to make a difference in the fight against child exploitation, shares CEO Mona Stephen. "While we may not have an absolute answer, we will certainly ensure our efforts will heighten the sense of urgency and awareness to this important cause."

A press conference will be held at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP on January 31st with an esteemed panel that includes: Mayor Kasim Reed (Atlanta), Jasmine Guy (Spokeswoman), R. Mona Stephen (CEO/co-Founder NOtYours!), Stephanie Davis (Exec. Dir of Georgia Women for a Change), Deborah Richardson (Exec VP, National Center for Civil and Human Rights) and DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas Brown.
