The 2013 Ram 1500 Named the North American Truck of the Year

Winners were announced earlier this month at the North American International Auto Show. A group of select journalists from both the Unites States and Canada were responsible for reviewing and voting on all entrants. In order for a vehicle to be eligible for the award, it must be an all-new model or significantly different from its previous version. Dozens of vehicles were taken into consideration, before the field was narrowed down to eleven cars in one category and ten trucks and utility vehicles in another. The ballot with the list of vehicles was sent out to the forty-nine journalists, who have a total of twenty-five points to use for ranking all of the vehicles. The field is then narrowed down to three models in each category, and the journalists vote a second time to determine the winners.

The Ram 1500 was completely redesigned for the 2013 model year and received updates in almost every area, including a new frame, engine options, and transmission. The interior also received significant upgrades.

The engine and transmission combination help the 1500 achieve a best-in-class economy of 8.8L/100km. The 1500 pickup also features a stop-start engine system, as well as a thermal management system.
