On January 24, 2013, Managing Partner Christian F. Torgrimson will present two topics at the American Law Institute CLE’s Condemnation 101: How to Prepare and Present an Eminent Domain Case. Torgrimson will present “How to Prepare for an Order Taking: Condemnee’s Viewpoint,” and participate in a panel discussion about “How to Attack or Defend Comparable Sales: Condemnee’s Perspective.” Torgrimson is the 2012-2013 chair of the Eminent Domain Section of the State Bar of Georgia. A 15-year member of the State Bar of Georgia, she previously served as secretary and chair-elect of the eminent domain section. Torgrimson frequently speaks on eminent domain law and litigates on behalf of property owners and businesses in condemnation and eminent domain proceedings brought by state, county and city governments.

On February 28, 2013, Partner Charles N. Pursley Jr. will present at the Eminent Domain Section of the State Bar of Georgia. Pursley will present “Professional and Ethical Considerations for the Condemnor and the Condemnee.” Pursley is the original author of the reference guide Georgia Eminent Domain, which The Harrison Company first published in 1982. The Eminent Domain Section of the State Bar of Georgia awarded him the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award in the practice of eminent domain, an award that now is given in his name annually. For four decades, he has litigated condemnation, eminent domain, business valuation and other real-estate cases. His practice includes a national client base of commercial, mixed-use and shopping center developers and owners with properties and businesses taken or damaged for a public project.

On February 14, 2013, Managing Partner Stephanie Friese (Aron) will present at the annual Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Georgia (ICLE) Landlord and Tenant Seminar. Friese will present “From Lender to Landlord (and Tenants, too)! How Foreclosure Affects a Commercial Lease”. Friese is a strategic advocate and negotiator who represents commercial real estate clients in both transactional and litigation matters across the United States. She is involved in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, from acquisition of land to leasing, foreclosure, development and disposition.
