“Mid-South Toys for Tots” Truly Cares

Jan. 24, 2013 - PRLog -- The mission and objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources, and they are our children. It is our mission to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.  

The 2012 Toys for Tots campaign, led by Carrol S. Howard who is the Local Community Organizer, has been outstanding! This young lady works day and night to ensure the children in the 23 counties assigned to her in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee experience the joy of opening a toy on Christmas morning.  

The 2012 Mid-South Toys for Tots campaign raised over 137,000 toys through the support of local donors and community fundraising programs.  For example, some of the most successful fundraising events (which were all led entirely by volunteers and various prominent leaders in the Mid-South Community) include:

*The Motorcycle Dice Run (lead by Mr. Billy Vinson in cooperation with the Recycle Biker Shop in Collierville);

*ProLogis Mid South Toys for Tots Wine Tasting (lead by Mrs. Annie Louise Dodson – wine donated by Mr. John Barzzia);

*The Rebel Radio Station and the Northwest Mississippi Association of Realtors Bicycle Drive (lead by Mrs. Amanda Phillips and Cory Ferguson);

*The FedEx Pilot Bike Drive (lead by Craig Berry for the FedEx Pilots Association);

*Sonics (Mr. Bobby Solberg) – Toys for “Tator Tots” toy drive

*NBA Memphis Grizzlies toy drive

Also a big thank you goes out to the following businesses who donated greatly to the overall success of the 2012 toy campaign

·         Prologis for their yearly donation of warehouse space for toy distribution

·         UWT Logistics for their donation of year round warehouse space for toy storage

·         Ewing Moving and Storage for the transportation of toys

·         PODS and Cube Smart for storage of campaign supplies

It is so true that there are a Few things in life can be as rewarding as putting a smile on the face of a child especially during Christmas. Let us make 2013 Christmas even better by volunteering, giving, and sponsoring Mid South Toys for Tots.
