Crowdfunding Conference in Italy: Financing Sustainable Innovation
"To have innovative ideas is not enough; one needs to bring innovations to society. Entrepreneurs are the necessary link in bringing new ideas to the market and society.” –Aljona Sandgren
Entrepreneurs, investors, sponsors, researchers, leaders and students will find common ground in this crowdfunding event as sessions with innovation and sustainable growth as well as societal well-being will be at the forefront of the event’s discussions and workshops.
It’s one thing to have innovative ideas but it’s another thing to transform these ideas into businesses that will reach and change society. Business-savvy folk with fresh inspiration are welcome to join this event and share their ideas and at the same time get valuable advice from well-known gurus in crowdfunding from the US and Europe. This crowdfunding conference will also tackle financial issues, challenges, solutions and insights. Participants will gain valuable knowledge from leading industry heads regarding capital, product and service innovations and project presentation strategies, among other things.
David Drake, founder of The Soho Loft (TSL), and keynote speaker at the conference believes in paving a path to economic sustainability and financial innovation. “Crowdfunding is an alternative form of financial support of innovation that has emerged recently in the USA and some parts of Europe,” Drake says. “In a short period of time, crowdfunding has helped transform many people's dreams into reality. Crowdfunding is a great financial tool in supporting entrepreneurs and innovators as it allows everyone in society, regardless of how much money they possess, to choose to support innovations which appeal to their values and ideals,” Drake adds.
Financing is a significant issue in stimulating innovation, especially financing of the initial stages of business. How to take into account social, cultural and economic conditions in different contexts is also one of the major issues to be discussed in the event.
Also for discussion in the event are the recent developments, prospects and opportunities in green innovations as they seek to play a significant role in our everyday living. Aljona Sandgren, one of the speakers, has a long experience of coordinating international projects, financed by the EU, Swedish and Nordic grants. Her research and professional interests include social, green and academic entrepreneurship, leadership and organizational culture, issues of sustainability and individual and collective responsibility.
Prof. Andrea Albanese, also one of the keynote speakers, engages in Social Networking & Web Marketing as Process Advisor. Prof. Albanese specializes in Web Business Intelligence and is the author of several books on Social Network Influence Design.
Jouko Ahvenainen, Co-founder of Grow VC, the first global peer-to-peer micro-funding service for startups, will speak on day two of the conference. Mr. Ahvenainen is also a private investor and partner and board member in other finance or investment companies, like Springboard Venture Private (India) and Replicon (Finland).
Also speaking on day two is Korstiaan Zandvliet, Co-founder and Managing Director at Symbid. Mr. Zandvliet will speak on crowdfund investing and the legal framework behind crowdfunding. Symbid is a radical new innovation, which enables entrepreneurs to overcome financing problems for their start-up business.
The first crowdfunding convention, Crowdfuture, held in Rome last October, has raised awareness about crowdfunding and has boosted its development. This new conference on January 24-25 will continue to give much-needed drive to the growing crowdfunding sector in Italy.
David Drake of the The Soho Loft has contributed much in the growth of crowdfunding ventures in Europe since his work in support of the passing of the JOBS Act in the US in April last year. Drake says, “The European Commission initiating the official Transatlantic Economic Council forum in Rome has discussed ways of capital creation and capital infusion to businesses in Europe. There is a growing relevance of crowdfunding platforms and a great need to stress key wisdom in entrepreneurship around the world through crowdfunding.”
