Believe and Achieve Foundation Presents Check to Chester County Food Bank

Jan. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Downingtown, PA, January 16th 2013 - The Believe and Achieve Foundation ( http://www.believeandachievefoundation.org ) presented a donation check for $15,000.00 to the Chester County Food Bank for the Backpack Buddy Program. The Backpack Buddy program currently feeds 1,000 local elementary children in need each month by providing a backpack of food each weekend. Realizing the vital role that food and nutrition play in a child’s physical and mental development, the Backpack Buddy program ensures that these children have access to food on weekends, throughout the entire school year. Typical food items the program provides are Peanut Butter, pouches of tuna and chicken, fruit cups, fruit juice boxes, healthy cereal, macaroni and cheese, Pasta, dried fruit and shelf-stable milk. The backpacks are delivered to local elementary schools every Friday during the school year by volunteers and teachers.

The check was presented by Fred Gunther, President & Founder of the Believe & Achieve Foundation, and was handed to Larry Welsch, Executive Director of the Chester County Food Bank. The presentation took place on Wednesday, January 16th at the Chester County Food Bank located in Downingtown, PA.

This gift is the result of donations raised from the Believe and Achieve Foundation’s Charity Golf Outing held this past September, private individual contributions and 100% of the proceeds from the sale of “Hatimals”; winter hats that resemble different animals and are sold through the Believe and Achieve website. In addition to these efforts, donations were also driven by several marketing campaigns led by Grand Sport Auto Body & Glass Centers, ( http://www.grandsportautobody.com ) a local collision repair company and founder of the Believe and Achieve Foundation. Through these various events and promotions, the foundation aimed to raise funds and awareness for The Backpack Buddy program and to help fight child hunger.

In addition to the current 1,000 children receiving food assistance with the program, there are 11,000 more children in Chester County elementary schools eligible for the Backpack Buddy Program. Although food donations are always appreciated, monetary contributions help increase the buying power to purchase bulk quantities of food supplies at a discounted price.
