Follow on Google News | The Detroit Auto Show Names the Cadillac ATS “Car of the Year”GM receives some great news at the opening of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
By: Motor Werks Cadillac of Barrington The journalists on the jury, at what is the largest and most prestigious auto show in North America, picked the ATS from a list that included approximately four dozen vehicles from a wide variety of automakers. This is the second such honor that the ATS has received. In October of last year, the luxury compact was named Esquire magazine’s Car of the Year. The announcement is seen as a sign that there is a significant boost of confidence in the U.S. auto industry after the recession that sent national automakers reeling. Many analysts are now predicting that 2013 will be a record year for American auto sales as the rebounding industry has made great strides in producing a new crop of highly competitive models. The 2013 Cadillac ATS was designed to challenge the best of the world’s luxury sedans, in particular the successful BMW 3-Series, with the goal of making Cadillac a global luxury brand. Styled with Cadillac’s updated Art and Science design language, and featuring GM’s lightweight Alpha architecture, the chassis has been tuned to deliver precision handling and a thoroughly sporty driving experience. The drivetrain consists of a 3.6L V6 engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. With a full array of the comfort and convenience features one has come to expect from a luxury car, the ATS comes with standard leatherette seating, a premium Bose audio system, a 5.7-inch display screen, Bluetooth, and automatic climate control. This proud, award winning, Michigan-made compact sport sedan has to be experienced to be truly appreciated.
