Siri Eyes Free to be Offered in the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Vehicles
Mercedes-Benz will debut the innovative Siri Eyes Free button for the North American market in the upcoming redesigned 2014 E-Class.
The Siri Eyes Free button is designed to “wake up” Siri, enabling drivers to interact with a wide array of infotainment features without taking their eyes off the road. Siri is Apple’s proprietary voice command system, which in conjunction with the Digital Drive Style App, will not only allow drivers to access their vehicle’s infotainment systems, but also the functions and applications that are already loaded onto their iPhone, iPad, or iPod.
Part of Apple’s iOS 6 software update, the Siri Eyes Free integration is expected to provide several key features in the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class models. These features will include full navigation support, internet radio access, iPod search and browse functions, as well as a handy car finder feature that helps drivers locate where they parked their vehicle.
There will also be functionality to interface with various social media, such as the ability to listen to Facebook news feeds, along with twitter timelines and retweets, interaction with Glympse, so that drivers can easily let their friends know where they are at any given time, and access to a wide variety of posting functions.
