Jan. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- DutchCrafters.com, the leader in online Amish furniture, will sponsor the 2013 annual fundraiser banquet of the Anabaptist Heritage Association Southeast Conference (AHA).

The banquet will include a free meal, along with music and presentations from keynote speakers. The association will ask attendees for a charitable donation if willing. With the funds raised in years passed the association has underwritten the publication of two volumes authored by Martin W. Lehman presenting the history of the Mennonites coming to Florida, the establishment of Mennonite Churches in FL, GA, SC and NC along with further development of Southeast Conference as we know it today. With funds raised this year, the association plans to rent a storage facility for the collection and preservation of further records and books.

The event is a fitting sponsorship target for DutchCrafters, as Martin Lehman, the highest authority on the history of the Mennonites coming to Florida, and thus the migration of a culture, actually drew inspiration and research from the work of DutchCrafters Amish Furniture founder and CEO, James Miller. Miller is referenced by Lehman throughout the entire first volume of his renowned work “Roots and Branches.”

Further supporting the sponsorship, this year’s banquet will be held at the Sarasota, Bahia Vista Mennonite Church – a church where Miller was once a pastor, and the place where Miller and Lehman first met.

The upcoming banquet, to commence on January 18, 2013, will feature keynote speakers Tony Brown (musician), and John Sharp (historian) in the presentation of “Common Threads.” Both speakers are current professors at Hesston College in Hesston, Kansas. Their presentation “Common Threads” is a program of story and sound focused on the promise of hope in the midst of pain and humiliation.

The mission of the Anabaptist Heritage Association of the Southeast Conference is to collect, preserve, and interpret the Anabaptist-Mennonite heritage in order to educate, inspire, and witness to the church and broader community the vitality of the Anabaptist faith for the present and future church.

The AHA hosts such a banquet annually with the help of donors like DutchCrafters. Any donation given will be used to further aid in the collection and preservation of Anabaptist history and heritage.

Along with sponsorship of the AHA banquet, DutchCrafters also sponsors its own annual academic scholarship, the DutchCrafters Amish Furniture Heritage Scholarship, awarded to five students each year who draw upon their cultural heritage to offer creative value to their community.

Students can find more information on the DutchCrafters Amish Furniture Heritage Scholarship at DutchCrafters.com. The Anabaptist Heritage Association banquet will take place on January 18th, 2013 at the Bahia Vista Mennonite Church, Sarasota, FL. Registration for the event begins at 6:00 pm while dinner will begin at 6:30. For more information or early registration, interested attendees may contact Jewel Shenk at 941-365-0005.
