Jan. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- What hither comes from the hand of the Troll King and those in his employ? A warning to mortal man of impending doom? A proclamation of dominion over all the creatures of the Earth? A mesmerizing spell that will make the world hand over all its cheese dip?

Nah.

Coming soon from IK, the King of Trolls is The Trollish Field Guide! A full color art book detailing the world and mythology of IK The Troll King, created by Bryan Thompson.

After over a decade of performing IK, the mythology that is the armature of keeping such a unique character has grown in detail to the point of being ridiculed as encyclopedic. And now, for the first time ever, this mythology is being put down in words for the common mortal to better understand Trolls as a whole, as well as many aspects of the world we all share that until publication shall remain a mystery! All shall be revealed, from the TRUE story of the Three Billygoats Gruff, to the reality behind Bigfoot, The Loch Ness Monster, and UFO’s.

This Field Guide will offer many works of art and illustrations assisting in your reeducation of how the world works, with contributing artwork by Lindsay Archer, Sketch MacQuinor, Tammy Pryce and many others. In fact, any artists wishing to contribute to the book are requested to write to ikthetroll@yahoo.com .

A Kickstarter campaign will be set up soon so as to help fund the book’s publication, with such prizes for contributors as signed copies of the book, original art prints, and Official IK T-Shirts. You can keep up to date with all that’s going on by frequently visiting http://www.facebook.com/ikthetrollking.

And now, to wet your whistle, here is an excerpt from The Trollish Field Guide:

ON THE SUBJECT OF BRIDGES

"While mankind was indeed the first to create bridges, they are not by any means the only being that has done so.  Dwarven bridges are known for their unparalleled sturdiness, and Elven bridges are noted as being amongst the most ornate and beautiful.  And Trollish bridges have held a secret known to few until the writing of these words.

These bridges are a means of getting from one place to another, just as any bridge, but Trolls were granted the ability to use these bridges as a portal from that given location, to a myriad of other locations by simply walking beneath, or rather THROUGH the bridge.  These portals are hidden in plain sight, as common folk walk across the spine of the bridge to get from one side of a river (or what have you) to the other.  Of course, to keep just anyone from using these portals by accident or design, there is a key to opening the portal which is written into the construction of the bridge itself, the arrangement of stones and/or timber denoting which tune must be sung and/or gestures made, words spoken and so on.  Only Trolls are privy to “Bridge Speak”, and can read these signs.

Over time, and through experimentation, it was discover that Trolls can use ANY bridge as a portal, but using a bridge not of Troll make means not knowing where the portal will lead to, which, it hopefully need not be said, could lead to dangerous or embarrassing outcomes for any mortal individuals who wish to go portal hopping."
