Karhu 2013 Unveils New Flow Collection Featuring Efficiency-driving Fulcrum Technology
Flow Light, Flow Trainer and Flow Trail Raise Performance Expectations Off-road and On
“Our shoes are designed based on the Finnish principle of efficiency and the “Rullaava”
Backed by running biomechanics research at the University of Jyvaskyla, the Flow collection highlights the Fulcrum Technology’s ability to minimize vertical oscillation and reduce ground braking forces. As a result, the runner wastes less energy per stride allowing for faster, farther and easier running. Less bounce and better body positioning reduce pounding and stress on the bones, ligaments, joints and muscles to decrease the likelihood of injury. In combination with the new, lower heel drop of 8mm, the Flow delivers natural forward propulsion, increased ground awareness and a more responsive ride.
Flow Light Fulcrum: Specifically engineered for the competitive runner, the Flow Light is the highest performance model, lightest in weight and most flexible. The advanced wearable EVA foam in the midsole and outsole creates the line’s most responsive ride. The virtually seamless upper ensures a snug fit through the heel and arch without restricting natural movement of the toes and forefoot.
Flow Trainer Fulcrum: Durable enough to be used as an everyday trainer yet light enough to double as a racing flat, the Flow Trainer is suitable for the widest variety of speeds and distances. This model’s softer EVA combined with a directly placed fulcrum delivers increased forward propulsion, diminishes braking and promotes a naturally comfortable ride.
Flow Trail Fulcrum: Rugged enough for the toughest single track trails, yet accommodating to road surfaces, the Flow Trail features a counter-directional T-lug design equally adaptable to both uphill and downhill running. The lower profile maximizes the feel of the terrain without compromising the Fulcrum Technology’s ability to increase propulsion. A durable waterproof mud guard protects the runner’s feet from harsh wilderness elements including creek crossings, rocks and roots while the faster transition through the gait cycle makes it easier to flee from angry moose.
In keeping with Karhu’s commitment to the specialty run channel, the new Flow collection line will only be available at running specialty stores and not online. Suggested retail prices for both men and women’s models are $110 (Flow Light), $115 (Flow Trainer), and $120 (Flow Trail).
