-- New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of Southern California, the world’s largest independent IT training company, will host Troops to Tech Careers on January 22, aimed at helping veterans transition into information technology careers. The event will also include a free job fair.
In partnership with CompTIA, Robert Half, Veterans VocRehab and others, the free event will include several presentations focusing on transitioning into an information technology career. Topics presented will include the CompTIA Troops to Tech Careers Initiative, Microsoft Tracks and Certifications, 2013 IT Hiring and Compensation Trends, Transitioning Out from a Veteran’s Perspective and Vocational Rehabilitation Services, among others.
The event will also feature information about NHSoCal’s Heroes Made to Hire Program, along with a job fair. Several companies looking to hire will be in attendance.
At a time when some industries are losing jobs, IT offers a wide range of entry-level positions with diverse career paths. There were an estimated 300,000 open IT jobs in the United States in January 2012.
“We can devise a game plan for those looking to jump start a career in the IT field,” said Cindy Sutherland, Vice President of Career Development for New Horizons of Southern California.
