One Million Moms for Gun Control was formed within 24 hours of the Connecticut elementary school shooting in Sandy Hook and is dedicated to harnessing the power of social media and the motivation of outraged mothers. In less than one month, One Million Moms for Gun Control has tens of thousands of members and has established nearly 75 local chapters across the country.

“The march in Washington, DC, on January 26 and the local marches across the country on the same day are just one step forward in our organization’s march toward demanding common-sense gun control laws in America,” said Watts.

About One Million Moms for Gun Control:
One Million Moms for Gun Control, a nonprofit that supports common sense gun measures, was formed in the immediate aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, on December 14, which claimed 26 lives—20 of them children. Our goals: 1) Ban assault weapons and ammunition magazines of more than 10 rounds.
2) Require background checks for all gun purchasers.
3) Report the sale of large quantities of ammunition to the ATF.
4) Limit the scope of concealed weapons laws at the state level. For more information, visit http://onemillionmomsforguncontrol.org.
