America’s One Boy USO, ten, Receives Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award
Congressman Tom Price presented Atlanta’s Cody Jackson with the award Tuesday. The ten year old has completed over 1,700 volunteer hours by supporting the troops and through two books to teach other kids about being a “Pint-Sized Patriot”.
The President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation created this award program as a way to thank and recognize exceptional Americans who inspire others to engage in volunteer services through their demonstrated commitment and example.
Popularly known as the One Boy USO, Cody regularly travels to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta to greet active duty military personnel as they travel to and from combat in Afghanistan as well as veterans he encounters. He has personally thanked over 13,500 troops. He has also assembled and mailed over 2000 pounds of packages to deployed troops since December 2011.
Cody is also the author of two children’s books that teach other children about the importance of being patriotic and to support the troops after being teased for his patriotism. All of Cody's profits from his book sales (Pint Sized Patriots Coloring and Activity book and Pint Sized Patriots: Standing Tall) are used to support his continued efforts as the One Boy USO. Cody also speaks at schools, attends charitable events, and volunteers his time at events like Fishing for Freedom to assist wounded warriors.
Later this month, Cody will also be recognized by the Boy Scouts of America with a Merit Award for his community service.
Pint Sized Patriots Coloring and Activity book and Pint Sized Patriots: Standing Tall are available through BQB’s online store (http://shop.boutiqueofqualitybooks.com/
About Cody Jackson
Cody Jackson is a pint-sized patriot and the One Boy USO, who, at the age of ten, has already thanked more than 13,500 of our country’s heroes. Every day, he goes out of his way to thank our military men and women. As a way to thank more soldiers more often, Cody began collecting donations to help fund care packages to ship to deployed troops.
After noticing the lack of patriotism in his peers, Cody wanted to let other kids know, “It’s okay to be patriotic! If I can do it, you can too!” He has written his patriotic children’s book to share his love of America and her military, and hopes to help other children love their country and troops as much as he does! A portion of all sales of Cody’s books will go toward his efforts as the One Boy USO. To learn more, visit http://1boyuso.com/
