Innovative New Writing Class, Contant Writing for the Internet--A Must for the 21st Century

A new online course at University of California--Riverside reintroduces college composition by covering some of the same concepts, but newly updated as a vehicle for educating students about the skills they need to write online.
Jan. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- A unique new online class at UCR beginning Jan. 28, 2013 is to become the new Composition 103--a must-have course for anyone wanting to learn to write effectively on the Internet in the 21st century.  Students work together as a group to put together a WordPress blog about writing for the Internet, creating sample article entries, blog entries and photo essays in order to learn the ropes of Internet hit-producing content, search engine optimization, HTML, keyword selection, file-naming, photo selection, caption/sidebar writing and more.  Students pick their own topics that align with their interests and experiences.  All work will be posted online after instructor edits, which students will study to learn proper white-spacing, spelling, grammar, capitalization and word usage in AP (Associated Press) Style. Students complete writing assignments with the goal of Internet publication and obtaining quality sample work to submit to possible employers in their field.
