Open Call for Hoboken's Hudson Theatre Ensemble production of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and adapted by Simon Levy. Non- equity, non-paid
Jan. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Open Call:  Simon Levy’s stage adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s masterpiece The Great Gatsby.   Presented by  Hoboken’s  Hudson Theatre Ensemble (Non-Equity).  

Auditions: Thursday 1/10/13, Friday 1/11/13    7-9PM.

Sides provided at audition.   Hudson School Performance Space, 601 Park Avenue, Hoboken, NJ   07030.   Rehearsals during evenings during the week ;  some w/e.   Performances   April 5, 6, 12, 13   8pm; April 14 matinee.  

Set in Summer  1922, Long Island, NY,  story captures  essence of  post-war  Roaring Twenties, Prohibition, wealth,  privilege, social worlds colliding, love, and obsession.

Nick Carraway: narrator, true Midwesterner, gentle manner (25 -35).

Jay Gatsby:   mysterious millionaire, bootlegger, romantic idealist obsessed with Daisy (25-35).

Daisy Buchanan:  attractive, wealthy socialite, golden girl, effervescent, shallow (25-35).

Tom Buchanan:  Daisy’s millionaire husband.  Never has to play by the rules because of his social standing (25-35).

Jordan Baker:  Daisy’s good friend.  Attractive, wealthy, professional  female golfer. Compulsive liar; cheat (25- 35).

George Wilson:  Mechanic/ garage owner;  very ordinary guy in world of excessively wealthy  (25- 35).

Myrtle Wilson:  George’s wife and Tom’s mistress, lower social class, fiery, sensual, gaudy (25 -35).

Secondary Characters – all ages.

Meyer Wolfsheim:  shady business associate of Gatsby.  Gambler, racketeer.   Mature a +

Michaelis – George’s Greek neighbor.

And others.      

Also need Stage Manager.
