“We are so excited for another year of our Best of Kosher awards,” said Jamie Geller, best-selling author of the Quick & Kosher cookbook series and co-founder of the Kosher Media Network, which publishes the Joy of Kosher website and print magazine. “Each year we get to showcase the amazing creativity and innovation taking place every day in the kosher food world.”
What was once only a tiny niche in the specialty food marketplace, is now very much mainstream. The market for kosher-certified foods in the U.S. alone represent a $12.5 billion market, according to a 2008 report by research firm Mintel International Group, a 64% increase from five years earlier.
Millions of people eat kosher products every day without even knowing it. Juices, cereals, yogurts, soft drinks, rice, pasta and beans are commonly found in stores nationwide with reliable kosher certification. Consumers who strictly observe the Jewish dietary laws require special certification on all products they bring into their home and only eat at dining establishments that are under rabbinical supervision.
The Best of Kosher awards will leverage the power of social media to allow brands and companies to promote their products and services to fans and followers on Facebook, Twitter and the social web. Nominees can
download a special “badge” to display on their own website to encourage more votes during this innovative five-week long competition and follow the results in real-time on JoyofKosher.com.
Joyofkosher.com combines recipe sharing with comprehensive social networking. Members can post, rate, search and share recipes, discover creative menu ideas, interact with other foodies and read interesting articles every day of the week.
