The Natural Hair Care Symposium I was such a success in October 2012, Black & Bossie Natural Hair Care Products joined forces with Salon at Samiyyah’s to do it again Feb. 23. This time it will be bigger and better, with women having an opportunity to get natural hair make-overs as time permits.
The interest of African American and Latina women in transitioning from chemical straightened hair to natural hair is at its highest since the 1960s, when the Afro or “natural” first came into vogue. The number of natural hair care videos, websites, Facebook pages and Twitter groups is exploding.
The Black & Bossie product line, established in 1982 by Washington’s mother Mary Boler Washington, includes: All Natural Hair & Scalp Oil, Crème Moisturizer, Black & Bossie with Tea Tree Oil, All Natural Braid & Body Oil, Kalawentz Bio-K, Whipped Shea Butter, All-in-One Conditioner, Black & Bossie Loc Butter Blend, 3-N-1 Soy Candles, and head wraps from India, which flatter locs, braids and other natural hair styles. Black & Bossie products, which are 100 percent natural and chemical free, are available in Greater Cincinnati at nine beauty supply stores and through 25 independent beauticians.
Salon at Samiyyah’s is a full service beauty salon, featuring stylists who are experts at taking care of natural, straightened and hair worn in locs or braids. The salon also specializes in natural styling for children.
