LiFu hails from Hongdong County in ShaanXi Province and is a highly accomplished and versatile artist in the famous Chinese bird-and-flower painting genre. While staying true to tradition, he is constantly in search of new ideas.
Gentle and honest in his approach, LiFu treats each subject in an open-minded and friendly manner. For him “painting is an aspiration of the heart”. He uses the brush to tell the story of the times. He stresses, “My objective is always to create something new.”
Not surprisingly, while there may be certain recurrent themes, he adopts different styles to fit his new subjects – among them are plants, flowers, birds and bamboo. While the thought may be hidden, the emotion is very well expressed in each of his pictures.
In recent years, LiFu has devoted his efforts to the research and creation of magnificent Gold Ink Painting. He has developed a totally unique style of painting that’s got a sense of era, and added a thick branch to the development of Chinese bird-and-flower painting.
LiFu has been constantly in the news attracting the attention of leading Chinese and foreign print and electronic media. More than 1000 pieces of his works have been published while his biography has been recorded in popular painting albums and dictionaries. His works occupy a pride of place in collections of prestigious local and international galleries, celebrities, governmental insitutions as well as Mao Zedong Memorial Hall.
When his exhibition was held in Beijing in October, 1993, his works were viewed and admired by prominent Chinese state leaders such as Mr Jiang Zemin, Mr Li Peng, Mr Qiao Shi, Mr Liu Huaqing, Mr Hua Guofeng and many others. In recent years, he has been showcasing his works in solo and joint exhibitions in Beijing, Xi’an, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Yinchuan, as well as foreign countries like Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam and South Korea.
