Dec. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- PALM COAST – Anthony Tucker, MD, a Florida Hospital Flagler Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, now offers a new procedure to treat Sinusitis. The procedure, called Balloon Sinuplasty, helps patients suffering from chronic sinusitis symptoms.

Sinusitis is one of the most prevalent health problems in the U.S., affecting 37 million people each year.

Acute or chronic sinusitis can greatly affect one’s quality of life. It occurs when mucous membranes become inflamed and sinus openings become blocked. This blockage prevents normal drainage and results in a buildup of pressure. This pressure results in constant pain and leads to infections.

Dr. Tucker’s Balloon Sinuplasty procedure is minimally invasive and is clinically proven to relieve pain and pressure.

“During Balloon Sinuplasty, a small and flexible balloon catheter is inserted into the sinus passageway and inflated to open the blockage,” said Dr. Tucker. “This option, unlike traditional surgery, doesn’t require any cutting or removal of bones or tissues and can be performed in our office under local anesthetic.”

Studies indicate that more than 150,000 patients have been treated safely via Balloon Sinuplasty and 95 percent of those patients feel they achieved desired results and would have the procedure again, if needed.

Dr. Tucker is a board-certified Otolaryngologist, also known as Ear, Nose and Throat or ENT. He treats maladies of the head and neck for patients of all ages. This includes allergy testing and treatment; pediatric ear, nose and throat surgery; endocrine surgery; head and neck cancer surgery; nasal and sinus surgery; sleep medicine surgery; treatment for balance disorders; medical and surgical treatments for disorders of the ear; voice rehabilitation; and treatment of head and neck skin disorders.
