Dec. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Bridgeport Village, Portland’s premier shopping and dining destination, is welcoming some special guests this Christmas season, guests will be able to visit live reindeer on Saturday December 22nd.

The Reindeer will be visiting from 12-4pm in Center Court.  The reindeer are part of the “25 Days of Joy” celebration that Bridgeport has added for 2012.  One of the other popular “Days of Joy” is the “Snow Shows” that happen twice a day each Thursday.  These shows guarantee that it will snow each Thursday from 12-1pm and 6-7pm at Bridgeport, also in Center Court.  To help the reindeer feel at home, Bridgeport Village will be hosting “Snow Shows” throughout the day on December 22. Peet’s Coffee will be offering free hot cocoa samples at Guest Services, Frosty the Snowman character and there will be carolers roaming The Village as well.

“We are so pleased to add this new event and bring reindeer to Bridgeport as part of our 25 days of Joy,” said Sarah Sumpter, Marketing Manager of Bridgeport Village.

The reindeer’s visit also coincides with the busiest shopping day of the year for Bridgeport Village.  Many think “ Black Friday”, the day after Thanksgiving,  is the biggest shopping day of the year.  However, the busiest day in terms of sales is the Saturday before Christmas, also called Super Saturday. Procrastination, along with the stress of completing the annual shopping list, compound to create a final shopping frenzy that culminates the Saturday before Christmas.

According to the National Retail Federations 2012 Holiday Consumer Actions and Intentions Survey, 17 percent of shoppers have not yet started their holiday shopping and nearly 90 percent still had significant shopping to complete. Overall, holiday spending is expected to increase nearly 4.1 percent over last year.
