“Sexy California Style BBQ Sauce has a History and Flavor all its Own”

Los Angeles- Sweet smelling barbecue filtered through the back yard piercing the loud music and filling the noses of the many high profile quests.  The best barbeque in California is now being served.  Where is “Mickey’s momma’s BBQ today? It is here at the party of the year.  From the time Mickey’s Mommas BBQ launched their business approximately 2 years ago, the buzz has grown exponentially and the orders for BBQ sauce and their catering service just keep coming.  The company enhances sales by online distribution, tradeshows, festivals and catering in and around California.  I interviewed Paula Boutte, CFO of Mickey’s Momma’s LLC, while her crew catered a party for a well-known music producer at a beautiful home in the Hollywood Hills. “We were referred by a happy client for this gig” Boutte says.  “Much of our catering venues we get are through previous clients and word of mouth”.  According to Boutte, “We anticipate doing quite well in 2013 if 2012 is any indicator of what type of product we have and service we deliver”.  Boutte smiles as she prepares the next dish to go out to the crowd. She happily discusses the optimism she feels about the possibility of opening new markets for a “California Style BBQ Sauce” in the US and around the world.  “Everyone is familiar with Texas style, Memphis and St Louis style sauces and rubs”.  “Mickey’s Momma’s BBQ Sauce is a California creation originating in some of the best homes in Malibu and Beverly hills”.  

Mickey’s Momma, Helen R. Palmer, was a house maid in the 1960’s who loved to cook. She would be asked to cook for some of the most famous families, movie stars and politicians of that era.  Mrs. Palmer loved to tell stories about the many famous stars she would meet while at some of the homes. While preparing BBQ at an employer’s home, Sam Cook and a beautiful young female came down the stairs to the kitchen.  “Oh my lord it smells like heaven in here, I love BBQ” said Cook.  Her cooking became legendary to all that were lucky to try it, but her BBQ sauce was the most talked about.  It was so delicious that many of her clients would ask her to make gallons at a time.  She would also say that “they would store it in the back of their refrigerators and it would last them all summer long”.  

“This year has been pleasantly surprising” Mrs. Boutte says still smiling. “From the first day we launched we knew we had something special.  We had a table display set up to be used for a promotional photo shoot of our product.  The people on the set began buying our “demo jars” right then and there. It didn’t hurt that we had the smell of BBQ in the air”.  “I believe my mom is smiling down on us and our business venture”.  “Insofar we have been put in situations that have allowed us to shine”.
