Staten Island Family Opens New Health & Wellness Center--In Spite of Sandy
Long-time Staten Island area residents and brother/sister business owners, Darren and Michele Carbone, along with their family, are bringing a new business to the area, LaVida Massage, and nothing—not even Hurricane Sandy—can get in their way.
The Carbones, well-known former restaurateurs in Brooklyn, have been steadfastly committed to keeping their LaVida opening on schedule, despite the hurricane aftermath. “We lost power for about a week after Sandy, which set our initial opening plans back a bit. But we know we were lucky. Many of our neighbors have been dealing with so much more. As such, we were determined to weather the storm, and were lucky enough to not have endured any further setbacks or damage to the center,” says Darren Carbone. “We are now open!”
In wake of the disaster, LaVida Massage of Staten Island opens with hopes to offer affordable and comfortable massage services to residents as a way to assist in rejuvenating and relieving the stresses with which the area has recently faced and to move forward. Additionally, the Carbones are offering half-off massages for relief workers and service people in the Staten Island area (with valid identification)--$
“Massage maintains a high therapeutic value and plays a profound role in improving the quality of life—relieving stress, promoting injury recovery, alleviating pain, etc. And, with the hustle and bustle of New York it’s important to re-charge,” Darren says. “We pride ourselves in this small, but we feel significant, contribution to the health and well-being of Staten Island and surrounding communities with our affordable massage therapy services.”
The Carbones also hope to add jobs to the Staten Island area with LaVida—with intentions to hire up to 20 employees to fill positions including massage therapists, aestheticians, front desk staff and sales associates within the coming months.
Located at 2955 Veterans Road West, Suite 21 inside the South Shore Commons shopping center, the 2600 square foot center features eight regular massage rooms, one couples’ massage room and one aesthetics room. LaVida Massage Staten Island will provide a number of services specifically designed to meet the needs of families in the area, including a variety of massage therapy options, such as Sweedish, couples’, deep tissue, hot stone, pre-natal massages performed by licensed massage therapists. Additionally, the center will offer aesthetic services such as facials, waxing, spray tanning and even makeup application.
The new Staten Island LaVida Center also opens with strong family ties—Darren’
