The Glory of Dental Implants: How they Restored My Smile

A short release on how dental implants changed my life for the better after a truly horrible and life change experience.

Dec. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- Having missing teeth is no fun at all, especially when the teeth concerned are the front ones. Unfortunately, after an incident outside a nightclub, I was unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The result was a hefty punch to the chops, two missing teeth and a portion of jaw missing.

Naively I believed that everything would be fine in the morning as I had recovered one tooth. Turning up at the emergency dentist however proved what a fool I had been. The tooth I had collected was now dead and could never be reinserted. I should of preserved it in milk or put it back in straight away after wiping any dirt off.

Due to my lack of knowledge I had a gaping hole in my mouth and a severely swollen face; I looked like one of the walking dead. Upon visiting my local dentist I was fashioned a crude denture. I am so glad that this was just a temporary measure I disliked the denture from the first moment. It aggravated me; I could tell it was fake in any reflective surface, I had difficulty eating and drinking and I also loathe the taste of Polygrip. Luckily my dentist advised me to get dental implants as replacements and contacted some of her friends at The Care Dental Practice in London.

Enough background, the real story here is the dramatic effect that dental implants had on me. From my first consultation I knew I had chosen the right procedure and place. The consultant made me feel and ease and was upfront with pricing and timescales. I was booked in 2 weeks later.

The dental implant procedure itself wasn't as bad as I expected. I dislike the pinch of a dentist's needle however I was so relaxed that I didn't even noticed. Aforementioned, as some of my jaw bone was missing I had to have a bovine bone augmentation which was carried out at the same time. The initial procedure involved inserting the titanium rods into my jawbone which I expected I would feel. I felt nothing expect for an odd numb pushing as they were secured. These were capped off with temporary plastic composites made at the time to allow for proper healing. At the end of the procedure multiple pictures were taken of my teeth, mouth and a colour match was done. I was then sent on my way for a few months healing.

Even with the temporary caps on I was happier but then the day of the permanent crown placement came. My new porcelain caps had been artistically designed to fit my mouth profile. The dentist took off the temporary caps and placed the porcelain crowns and my mouth felt natural again. I could eat, smile and talk without fear of ridicule.

I've never been happier with my grin all thanks to dental implants and Care Dental.
