Boston Area Financial Planner and Firm Commit to Aid Coalition to Stop Gun Violence

Steve Stanganelli, CFP® of Clear View Wealth Advisors Pledges Financial Support of Non-Profit Advocacy Group, Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence, in wake of Newtown Shootings

Dec. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- Steve Stanganelli, managing member of Clear View Wealth Advisors, LLC, an independent investment advisory and financial planning firm, announced today that he and his firm will dedicate their community outreach efforts to help stem gun violence and donate a portion of client planning fees and 5% of firm profits to this cause. He also called on his peers to do the same.

“You can either make things happen or wonder what happened,” said the Amesbury-based Certified Financial Planner™ professional.  “After seeing the heart-breaking tragedy that fell upon Newtown, I cannot simply sit idly by and wait for others to take action,” Stanganelli added.  “This unfortunately could have happened in any community like mine and unfortunately it has – too many times,” said the father of two toddlers.

There is nothing more important than protecting our families and public health, offered Stanganelli.  “What I do is planning. And I know that no amount of planning can prepare a family or a community for something as horrific as this,” he said. “These are Black Swan events – rare events with high impact,” explained Stanganelli.

“But part of planning is mitigating risk. And committing to support those advocating for positive change is as logical as it is emotional. No amount of solid financial planning or positive investment returns, for instance, will matter one wit to a family ripped apart by a tragedy.  I don’t want this to happen to a client and I don’t want this to happen to my young family,” he said.  “I consider this an investment in the futures of my two sons and the third child we are expecting,” the expectant father added.

In light of the recent events in Connecticut and the other mass shootings which occurred this year at the movie theater in Colorado, the mall in Oregon and the Sikh temple in Wisconsin, Clear View is adopting the cause of stopping gun violence. As part of this effort, Clear View and its advisors will be donating a portion of all financial planning and investment advisory fees to support non-profit groups advocating sensible gun regulations and controls.  Clear View’s board and Stanganelli personally have chosen the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence as the lead recipients of this support program because of their mission “to secure freedom from gun violence through research, strategic engagement and effective policy advocacy” since 1974.

“While we are powerless to change the events that have happened,” Stanganelli said, “this is how I plan to do my part to help make sure that these kinds of events become rarer. I challenge others in my profession to consider making their own contribution to support this public health cause for all our sakes.”
