Dec. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Tampa, FL. -- Fritzcar Pierre, 4, and her father, Fritznel, who are among hundreds of survivors of the Haitian earthquake, now residing in the Tampa Bay area, is celebrating their second Christmas in the U.S.

Fritzcar, whose mother died in the disaster, lived for five days in the rubble but had critical head injuries and lost an arm. When her home caved in on Jan. 12, 2010 Fritzcar Pierre, then 20 months old, was buried under chunks of concrete with her 22-year-old mother. Her mother was found dead. Fritzcar, who fell farther down in the rubble, was believed dead. But on the fifth day, an uncle with a shovel saw something move. It was Fritzcar's foot. She is a “miracle child,” says her father.

On Saturday, December 8th, Fritzcar & her father, along with community activist and huge supporter of Haitian families living in the bay area, retired U.S. Seargent  Jim DeGuenther attended, a local Toys for Tots event held at Project LINK, which benefited some of the Tampa bay area's neediest children. The event was also hosted by the Just Full Service Center in West Tampa.

Fritzcar is a bright little girl, says Tina Young, executive director. " It was an overwhelming experience to watch her interactwith Santa and see this big bright smile appear her face."

Mrs. Young further states,  "I would like to personally thank everyone who donated toys to this year's Toys for Tots campaign". "We are also very thankful for our community partners at Just Full Service Center, Simply healthcare,   SoHo Cycling studio and 'Krewe of the Nautilus',  who helped fulfill the Christmas holiday dreams of Fritzcar and hundreds of other less fortunate children in the Tampa Bay area we were able to distribute Toys too".

For 66 years, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation has delivered a message of hope to less fortunate children through the gift of a new toy during the holiday season.  Upon the conclusion of the 2011 campaign, Toys for Tots had distributed nearly 16 million toys to more than 7 million children nationwide who might not have otherwise experienced the magic of the Christmas holiday season.
