Autobahn Motorcar Group Raises Big Money for Big Brothers Big Sisters

14th Annual Raffle raises nearly $500,000; has raised more than $4 million for local mentoring initiatives.

Dec. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Big Brothers Big Sisters is pleased to announce that Karla Perea of Fort Worth, had the winning ticket at Saturday’s 14th annual Autobahn Motorcar Group Limited Edition Raffle. Perea has won a 2012 Range Rover Evoque. Additionally, Melanie Allen of Aledo won a Caribbean cruise with round-trip airfare courtesy of Wyndham Jade Travel. This year’s raffle event raised nearly $500,000 – exceeding last year’s total by more than $20,000.

“There are no words to adequately convey how grateful we are to Autobahn for its generosity,” says Roberta Meyer, Tarrant County Regional Executive Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters. “For every five tickets sold at this raffle, we are able to support a mentoring relationship in North Texas for an entire year. The number of children this one event has positively impacted over the last 14 years is staggering.”

Since 1999, Autobahn Motorcar Group, located in Fort Worth, has donated free-of-charge a new model vehicle from one of its luxury lines (BMW, Porsche, Range Rover, Jaguar, Volkswagen, Volvo) to be raffled off on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters. In addition, Autobahn purchases a $100 raffle ticket for each of their clients who purchase or lease a car from their dealership each year. The dealership’s sales team also contributes to the effort by donating $25 of each sales commission directly toward the ticket purchase for their client.

“The Autobahn Motorcar Group is proud of our raffle partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters,” says Larry Barker, Community Service Director for Autobahn. “This event has given countless local children the opportunity to be matched with caring mentors. These relationships inspire the youth, enrich the mentor and strengthen our community.”

About Big Brothers Big Sisters
Big Brothers Big Sisters, the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, holds itself accountable for children in its program to achieve measurable outcomes, such as educational success; avoidance of risky behaviors; and higher aspirations, greater confidence and better relationships.  Partnering with parents/guardians, schools, corporations and others in the community, Big Brothers Big Sisters carefully pairs children (“Littles”) with screened volunteer mentors (“Bigs”) and monitors and supports these one-to-one mentoring matches throughout their course.  The first-ever Big Brothers Big Sisters Youth Outcomes Summary, released in 2012, substantiates that its mentoring programs have proven, positive academic, socio-emotional and behavioral outcomes for youth, areas linked to high school graduation, avoidance of juvenile delinquency and college or job readiness.

Big Brothers Big Sisters provides children facing adversity, often those of single or low-income households or families where a parent is incarcerated or serving in the military, with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.  This mission has been the cornerstone of the organization’s 100-year history.  With about 350 agencies across the country, Big Brothers Big Sisters serves nearly 630,000 children, volunteers and families.
