California low flow shower head company HighSierra Showerheads named finalist in water biz contest.

Contest sponsor Imagine H2O says its mission is to empower people to "turn water challenges into opportunities." HighSierra says its no-clog, water saving invention meets the difficult challenge of conserving water while providing a pleasing shower.

Dec. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Oakhurst, California -- Two days ago, HighSierra Showerheads LLC of Coarsegold, CA, learned it had been named a finalist in the annual Imagine H2O Prize for Water Startups.

Imagine H2O is a San Francisco-based non-profit organization that nurtures pre-revenue and early revenue (such as HighSierra) water-solution companies. For the past four years, its annual prize has attracted promising innovators from around the globe.

By this year's Nov. 15 closing date, Imagine H2O had received over 70 entries from 12 countries. According to a press release from Imagine H2O COO Scott Bryan, only nine of these entrants made it to the final round.

High Sierra Showerheads inventor and company founder David Malcolm is very proud to be among these finalists, all of whom will receive business consulting, mentoring, and exposure to funding sources and trade events.

"What makes us stand out from other high efficiency shower head manufacturers is our patented nozzle," Malcolm said. "It explodes a stream of water into a controlled shower of large, soft droplets that are uniform in size and distribution, instead of delivering a weak or stinging spray or cooling the water through aeration, as most low flow shower heads do."

The unique orifice in the device's nozzle works at almost all water pressures and will not clog, Malcolm points out. "Our customers often have trouble believing that the flow rate is actually 1.5 gallons-per-minute," he adds, "and some of them test it themselves to be certain."

HighSierra and the other eight finalists are competing for a grand prize of over $200,000 in cash and in-kind services. The results will be announced during events leading up to International World Water Day 2013 in March. "Regardless of the outcome, we are grateful to Imagine H2O for this opportunity to grow our business," Malcolm said.
