Kempton Park Becomes the 1st British Race Course to Receive Customer Service Excellence Standard

Dec. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Kempton Park racecourse has joined an elite group of entertainment venues awarded with the Customer Service Excellence Standard award by the Government, becoming the first British racing venue to gain the prestigious certificate in the UK.

The criteria for the award takes into account the areas considered most important by the customer, such as delivery, timeliness, information services, professionalism and the attitude of the staff.  The award also considers how well the venue performs in utilising customer insight and how overall service satisfaction is measured. The Sunbury-based racing ground and entertainment complex received a ‘compliant plus’ rating in the assessment. Kempton Park is the first racecourse in the UK to receive the award.

Assessor Mike Smith said of Kempton:

“Staff were observed to be unfailingly helpful, cheerful and good at understanding and anticipating customers' needs.”

In response to the praise, General Manager of Kempton Park Phil White credited the “underlying team work” that has made Kempton a success. Kempton not only offers the best in British horse racing but also caters to all ages with family days out featuring funfairs and musical performances by some of the UK’s top acts. Visitors can even enjoy a panoramic view restaurant serving a range of cuisine and a newly opened sports bar.

Kempton Park has built its reputation on adaptability. The 2nd of December saw a last-minute ‘Jumpers Bumpers’ event organised to fill the gap left by race cancellations in the extreme wet weather of late November. The swiftly organised race day saw entries by over 90 racehorses, a feat that very few other venues could have pulled off at such short notice.  

Kempton now begins preparations for its annual William Hill Winter Festival, one of the most important fixtures in the British racing calendar. The King George VI Chase takes place on Boxing Day every year and is a ‘kingmaker’ among National Hunt races. Past winners have included five-time champion Kauto Star and the legendary Desert Orchid.
