Dec. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Peoria, Illinois  December 7, 2012- Beginning  at 12:00 p.m. CST on Friday, December 14, 2012, gamers from Peoria, Illinois will kick off a three day event benefiting Child’s Play Charity, which provides books, toys, and games for children in hospitals.

The group, known as Rated M for Marathon, is made up of local comedians and gamers, looking to give back. The multi-day event, broadcast live online, will attract an audience from around the globe as the five member team plays through much of the popular Elder Scrolls franchise.  During the event audience members are encouraged to chat with the group, issue challenges and participate in raffles.

The two biggest prizes will be a pair of Wii Us that the group plans to raffle off on Sunday and Monday of the event. Tickets can be purchased for $5, with unlimited entries possible. The drawings will take place at 8:00 p.m. CST on Sunday and 12:00 p.m. CST Monday. Additional information about entering can be found at the group’s website,

Viewers will also have the ability to issue challenges to the participants for a small donation. “An event like this is all about audience participation,” says Krista Fanning, the group’s outreach coordinator, “people who come in have the ability to shape this into a completely custom event.”

The group, founded in 2011, has raised more than $4600, from both online marathons and the recent Gaming Through History event hosted at Landmark Cinemas. “We’re always searching for new ways to benefit the charity,” says Fanning, “it’s a great cause, one we really believe in, and we’re honored to be able to be a part of it.”

Child’s Play Charity ( is a charity dedicating to improving the lives of children going through medical treatment in a network of giving stretching across over sixty hospitals worldwide. The charity has distributed over 5 million dollars worth of gifts since it’s 2003 inception.  Carl Dodd, one of the group’s founders, says these smaller, community run marathons play an integral role in the charity, showcasing not only the generosity of gamers, but their creativity, determination, and ingenuity as well.”
